"Music is a spiritual expression of what's in your heart. Music as a way of getting rich is a pretty new thing, and I often wonder if the mega-bucks glitzy atmosphere is making the quality of music suffer. You have to work really hard to get around that and remember why you're in it in the first place: because you have to be. It's like an addiction. You can't go a day without picking up your guitar. To me, the only commercial goals that are really valid are, 'Boy, I wish I didn't have to go to work. I wish I could do this all the time." -Trey Anastasio
"Impose rules to make life simpler. Break them to make life more fun." -Jon Fishman
I can't beleive that summer is already over. Im looking forward to the changing of the season, though. We have had some beautiful and cool days here in Boulder, and I always have loved Fall. I hope that the changing of the season will bring a much needed recharging of my energy- I've been working hard this summer and I am looking forward to having some time this weekend to chill out. Im leaving this afternoon to go to R$'s wedding up in the mountains outside of Winter Park. It will be very good to get away for a little while.
Im making a lot of progress at work and there are 2 things that i am really excited about. First, next week my new assistant will be starting. She is young, smart, and attractive, and I think she will bring some positive energy to my office and make me more efficient. Second, I am starting to have art showings at my office beginning in September. I have photographers lined up for Sept and October, and they have some really cool stuff to show. My idea is for them to show their art and have a opening/closing party during the month and hopefully sell some art and help me meet some more people. I am very excited about it and think it will be a win-win for everyone involved.
Without stating the obvious, Im glued to CNN and the Hurricane Katrina disaster. I, along with many others, have had special experiences in New Orleans and cannot fathom what has happened to that city and how they will recover. Also, as a music fan, New Orleans has produced some of my favorite musicians and is very important to the music history of the country. Again im stating the obvious, but ive donated some money to the relief effort and i encourage you to do as well.
