"Music is a spiritual expression of what's in your heart. Music as a way of getting rich is a pretty new thing, and I often wonder if the mega-bucks glitzy atmosphere is making the quality of music suffer. You have to work really hard to get around that and remember why you're in it in the first place: because you have to be. It's like an addiction. You can't go a day without picking up your guitar. To me, the only commercial goals that are really valid are, 'Boy, I wish I didn't have to go to work. I wish I could do this all the time."

posted 10:30 AM by Anonymous

Today I feel unmotivated and unfocused. Ever have one of these days? I have tons to do at work; My apartment lease is up in two weeks and I need to find a new place as well as a roommate; I need to figure out my career path because I'm in a dead end job right now, and I'm getting ready to turn 30. Lots of stuff on the brain, but I can't concentrate nor do I care today. All I know is that it's 11:34 AM and I'm hungry for lunch.

It's been a while since I posted anything on Bathtub Gin. Here's a few quick notes/thoughts:

- I tried to buy tix for Wilco's Vic show this morning but it sold out in less than a minute. I'm not exaggerating either. I went to ticketmaster.com and was able to immediately get through at 10 AM but tix were already gone. I'm in awe.

- The Pixies SOLD OUT (4) shows at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. I was stupid to think that they wouldn't sell out one show at this venue. It's a pretty big place that holds roughly 5000 people. Other than London we're the only city on the tour with this many shows.

- Another Pixies related note, I was surprised to learn they're playing my hometown of Columbia, Missouri.

- I caught the "Aussie Invasion" Tour at the Vic a while back. Living End was awesome. Jet were pretty good. The Vines...how shall I say this...I've seen roughly 245 concerts in my 29 years of existance and this particular Vines performance ranks in the Top 3 worst shows I've ever seen. The lead singer is SO FUCKING ANNOYING. I have no idea how the rest of the band puts up with him. On a positive note I didn't have to pay for my ticket.

- Neil is turning into a cliche Phish nut. No more Phish or jam band references PLEASE. (Yawn)

- Where's Joni Hart these days? It seems she's missing in action.

- I was totally excited about seeing Velvet Revolver at the Riviera, but the show SOLD OUT in minutes.

That's all I have for today. I hope everyone's having a good one. Cheers!
